Exhibition of Louhisaari manor

Studying the miniature sculpture of Louhisaari manor

Access to Cultural Heritage: Policies of Presentation and Use (ACCU) is a joint European venture. It aims to introduce a new approach in the field of cultural heritage by producing concrete action plans, best practices and information material on access-related issues. The project promotes cooperation between heritage management institutions and offers new tools for professionals to use on accessibility issues.
The Finnish pilot site, Louhisaari manor is a 17th-century protected historical monument in the southwestern Finland.
Please touch tactile models and textiles
During the project year a scale model, tactile models ( complemented with audiotapes and image interpretations) and textiles were prepared for the manor house. The special target groups of these items were people with visual impairments and/or learning difficulties. In addition, touchable objects and models interest all children and also adults. The work began by exploring national and international expertise in this field. The advantages of different materials were discussed with access experts and makers such as the experties in Jyväskylä School learning material department.

The exhibition of Louhisaari manor as miniature ceramic sculpture and posters of all countries participated in ACCU-project were exhibited in Jyväskylä School in August 14th - 23rd 2007. The text in posters was translated in Braille  and image interpretations were available.
