Our school takes part in an international event called 'art beyond sight' by having an exhibition of graphic art by Kirsti Neuvonen during October of this year. The exhibition is for pupils, staff and visitors to the school. The exhibition also has three books about the artist and her work. These books contain information on the pictures which makes it possible for someone to explain them to people who cannot see. The organizer of the exhibition, Asta Lauttanen-Kurtélius also prepared small cards of the exhibits, the idea being that a pupil may pick at random a card on one of the pictures  and find it among the other pictures. After this, the adult will interpret the picture to the pupil. (Picture).

The American organization called Art Education for the Blind arranges and organizes the annual 'Art Beyond Sight' - month. The aim is to activate museums, schools, libraries and various cultural institutions to see to it that visual art and culture may also be accessed by people with a visual impairment. This year, more than 180 institutions around the world take part in the project, including The United States, Great Britain, Japan, Egypt, India, Spain, Italy, Norway, Finland, South Corea, France, Greece, Germany, Russia and Israel.
