A different map of the World
“Understand and experience your environment from a different perception”
A project by Iván Torres Hdez & Joe Acheson

In March, during weeks 11 and 12,
2009,Iván Torres Hdez, a film maker and visual artist, Joe Acheson, a freelance composer and sound designer, Sanna Sorri,
camera assistant were making a documentary film about blind children. This
project will study the learning methods and daily life experiences,
especially those involving sound, that children in Jyväskylä School for
the Visually Impaired use to make sense of their environment and the
challenges they face in their lives. One of the aims of the film is to
engage the big audience and help them to understand and "experience" a
different perception of our environment as blind children do, and
how they are learning to live an independent life. The overall
character of the film will have a distinctive aesthetic and engaging
narrative.
