Our trip to Kemi |
Pupils from the7th -9th grade made a trip to Kemi in northern Finland. Here is a story written by one of the them.
FIRST DAY:
At Tuesday morning we left at 8 am in front of our school with a little
bus to Kemi.
Our trip lasted roughly 6 hours. Whilst our drive we stopped one time in
Pulkkila`s ABC to drink coffee
and eat some donuts. We were at Kemi at 3 pm and we picked up our
dungarees, helmets
and gumboots for the next days motor sled camp and the reindeer ride.
When we had set the clothes into the big sacks, we went to the Lapponia
Safaris,
where our cottages were. After dinner we went into The Kemi`s
Snowcastle to see ice sculptures and snowy sights.
In the castle were church, hotel, restaurant and stage.
Even the hotel was made of ice and snow. It was possible to stay over
night in the icy hotel,
but we thought that the cottages were a better option. When we came back
to Lapponia Safaris,
sauna was warm and we went there to melt ourselves.
NEXT DAY: In the morning we had a good breakfast. Almost
everything that man can have.
Coffee, apple juice, bread, cucumber, cheese, mush…
After breakfast we had to put dungarees and helmets on, because it
wasn`t a long time to motor sled trip,
Dungarees looked like stupid. Fortunately, we all looked like the same.
The sleight was waiting us in front of our cottage.
We jumped on the sleight, and the motor sled dragged us.
Motor sled drove in a forest and above the ice. Soon we were at our
destination.
There were reindeers, and a silly looking man with a blue skirt and a
weird hat.
We drank coffee and ate some reindeer sausages with bread.
After the little snack the funny looking man took us to a reindeer ride.
The reindeer was cute and little, but lazy. Her name was Uula. Uula
walked a little circle,
when we sat by turns on the sleight behind her. After the ride the “blue
skirt man” allowed us to scratch Uula.
Then the weird looking man gave us the Reindeer Driving Licenses.
Finally we went back to cottages. When we were there, we started to pack
and clean up places.
Before we went back to the bus and towards Jyväskylä, we had to eat
lunch.
At the way back we drank coffee at the Pulkkila`s ABC.
We were at Jyväskylä at 9 pm.
The trip was unforgettable.
