The tenth graders and the 5th-6th graders created environmental art by
making 'red indian trees' in the school yard. The following themes were
discussed: - where does the term 'red indian' originate? - what images
does it bring to mind? - what do we know of the history of red indians?
Implementation of the project: - we gathered branches from the nearby
forest, took off the leaves - the pupils greatly enjoyed this part! -
old woollen threads of various colours were hung on the trees, the idea
being to create a web-like structure around them. - laminated pictures
and texts concerning red indians were fastened to the trees. - we agreed
that when autumn turns into winter we will check the condition of the
trees and if necessary, we will remove them. - finally, we chose a
suitable place for them, near the path the pupils and staff use so that
it would be easy for them to study the art.
