Support services
A child reported to the register of Jyväskylä school is appointed a counselling teacher/itinerant teacher who
- meets pupils, parents and school staff in local schools
- offers individual consultation to teachers and families
- provides  information concerning pedagogical methods and rehabilitation in Jyväskylä school
- gives expert advice in drawing up Individual Education Plans
- assists in organizing supportive networks on a local level

Training courses

Three   to nine days coursesfor teachers and assistants and other personnel with working with pupils with V.I.
Content:
- information on visual impairment and its effects on learning
- training special skills to cope with special needs caused bi V.I.
- tools for  everyday teaching and assisting
-  networks issues

Special education needs courses ( one week in Jyväskylä school)
- for pupils from pre-school age to 9th grade in inclusive settings from all over Finland
- individual courses for various educational purposes e.g. for a low vision child to learn Braille techniques
- for  blind pupils a course twice a year, low vision pupils according to their individual needs
- expenses shared  equally between the local school authorities and the state of Finland
(transportation, board and lodging, education, special materials, rehabilitation, leisure time activities, preliminary questionnaire and multi- disciplinary feedback and necessary reports

-  special low vision pictures, pedagogical guide books from the Jyväskylä school
